Ticket to Ride

Stevie Wonder's music makes me happy.

--------------------------

Aights, am back from Mt. Kinabalu.

I had no idea what to expect, as I was joining the group alone, not knowing anyone.
But WHOA, what an amazing experience. The charity, the people, the hike.

& yes, I did manage to raise the RM 2K for Shelter Home. Though my mum got most of it, as her circle of friends are definitely are in more of a position to help with that.
I ♥ my mum
& many many thanks to those who donated.

first group picture ; arriving at Kota Kinabalu airport.

Having lunch on the first day. For some reason, most of them found it hard to believe I'm only 18.
Fei, Siew Hie, gua, Priya, Ai Lee & Jasmine.

Had the coldest shower of my life. Brh.

Had ample of time to kill on the first day, so we all explored the place a little.
Took a brief walk and settled at a small coffee shop; relaxing, chatting, getting to know each other.
Ai Lee! :)
I was mostly with her.
She's 31, don't look like it, eh?
Went back to the hostel to change my socks, but stupidly forgot to get the key from my roommates.
Locked out with damped socks :/
So I joined Cameron & George who were taking a stroll down from where we stayed.
Cameron and George. We were talking about Asian poses ;)

with Aon group from Singapore ; Vinod, KC, Cameron & George ;)
They flew in just to join the charity climb.
The whole gang ; before starting our hike.
I got this stupid flu - -
Sniffing all the way.
My group + Albis, our guide

There were squirrels EHVEHREEWHERE.

I'm a little vain like that

Albis clearly getting bored of waiting up for me :)
Finally got to Laban Rata, where we stayed on the second night.

CAME SAW CONQUERED.
At the peak ;)
AHAA. I know it was suppose to be a beautiful moment and all, but my flu was not helping at all.
 Wheeeh~

I was freezing my ass off, barely up there for 5 minutes.

Fei's jump shot.

Breathtaking, ain't it

Ngeh. In Dom's jumper. I slipped on a rock and made it wet at the back. ahhaa woops.
Check out my loyalty to SMK USJ 8's trackpants.

ALBIS ! He calls me bahaya, cause I started tripping over anything on the path, being completely stubborn on the alternative paths.
Chilling and chatting on the last night. Cameron, Nivod, Dom. & Fei at the corner, ahaa.
Last group picture ;)
Alex, our tour guide.

Ahahaa, karaoke session in the bus. Siew Hie dancing to Nivod singing Kucha kucha hotta hai.
Dominic J. Blendell (:
random kids near a market in Kota Kinabalu.

Sisterly love.

the kid behind was singing, using the car antena as a mic. My mum would've never let me do that when I was younger. :(

If I get the chance, I'll definitely go up again, and hopefully get the sunrise at the peak next time.
I feel like I must try via ferrata too.

So anyway, I had such a fantastic time, got to meet so many wonderful people.

Apparently Shelter Home organizes the charity climb every year, so look out for 2012's. ;)

Hit the Road Jack

Hellohello.

That, ^, is a picture of a bridge in Penang. Heh, just thought I'd have that up.

Anyway, as mentioned, I decided to pay my Singaporean cousins a visit 2 weeks ago.
Took a bus down. I nearly missed that bus. I got there like a minute before they left. PHEW.
My time management ain't exactly flawless, I'd say.
Was a 5 hour journey. & in that 5 hours, I made 2 friends.

Say hello to Yoong Jie & Andrew :)

Cousins took me to Universal Studios the next day.

Love how the themes and decorations are so elaborated.

Bugis street, sorta like Singaporean version of Petaling Street.
City centre. Not really sure exactly where ._.

Buttwipe cousin of mine :)
He shouldn't be Singaporean as his level of knowledge of Singaporean history is utterly hopeless.
Me : Who is that on the Singaporean dollars?
Him : Urhh.

Me: What does the Merlion represent anyway?
Him : Urhh.
Merlion. I kinda thought the original one was at Sentosa, apparently not. That's just the enlarged version of it.
It is still a self-conflict, in deciding whether that looks more like a ship or a plan.

Having AMAZING food at the Hyatt hotel, where his eldest sister works.
It's amazing how the MRT gets you to nearly any point in Singapore.
I love them Singaporean cousins <3

Just a note, if you're planning to take a trip down to Singapore by bus;

I would recommend First Coach if you're travelling alone & Aeroline if you're travelling in a group.
First Coach is cheaper about RM36, the seatings are comfortable and they've got individual media entertainment though I think you have to bring your own earphones.
Aeroline is double decked. But the lower one only functions as a lounge fit for 6. That's probably why it's about RM95. & also because they provide food and there's an attendant on duty.

But I think I personally prefer First Coach.

♫♪ Put the lime in the coconut & drankém both up ♪♫

That chorus is addictive.

So What.

Just back from Singapore yesterday. I took a bus down to visit my cousins. & now I'm at Penang, for the 3rd time in three weeks.

Anyway,

No, I am still not studying.

But yes, I am going to.

No, not going to enrol in a college though.

Nah, not Form6 either.

Aha, Gladwin just called me a non-conformist.
The path less taken, is a good place to find me.

Well, I'm too lazy to be detailed right now. So I'll fill my blog in, in the next post.

Till then, *fists chest twice then does the peace sign*
Peace out.

AHAH.

One Step Beyond

 Hellobello.

My mum shoved this newspaper article in my face couple of weeks back, about a guy who was once paralyzed, but now up & kicking, wanting to climb Mount. Kinabalu. It's a charity climb, with it's aim to raise 100K for Shelter Home. Consisting of 30 climbers, each participant is suppose to raise 2K.

click right here to check out the article.

& they were still lacking of 18 climbers then.
So I thought, ''heyy, why not?!''
Hence, I sent an email to the organizer, stating my interest in participating & I got myself a place.

So, on the 13th to 16th of July, this girl's gonna attempt at conquering Mount. Kinabalu, baybeh ;)

Our first training was last Saturday, hiking up Mount. Angsi in Senawang.
Was my first time meeting the other participants, though not all were present.
They were mostly middle-aged, I was the youngest.
Really nice energetic people :)

Pictures below, I used my digital. Like as if I'd drag my DSLR up.

I started the hike right at the back with Julie & the sweeper(and organizer), Edwin.
Julie's among the older climbers. Her bag looked somewhat huge & too heavy for a 1day hike, so I couldn't help but to offer my assistance. But she said she needed to train. After a while, she said her bag was too heavy so she took out her 1.5 litre water bottle and held it. Edwin & I told her that she would need to keep her hands free when . So after some persuading, she let me carry her bottle in my bag :)

Local Senawang boys. They're not from my group.

Otw up, I started pacing because if I stop, I'd just puncture out.
So without realising, I overtook my team. Then I met up with them boys.
The middle guy is AMAZING. He was carrying this huge haversack.
At the peak, I discovered that he brought a WHOLE freaking watermelon & an unopened container of Nata de Coco.

Best view from the top.

with Edwin and John(from the article).

with the whole team at the peak :)
